La Cocina School at El Centro de la Raza will be offering a Costa Rican Picadillo, Tortillas & Empanadas Class in partnership with Marielos Gutierrez! Learn how to make delicious and authentic Costa Rican style picadillo, as well as homemade tortillas and empanadas. Picadillo is essentially a "Latin style hash" which mixes potatoes, meats, and spices into a tasty side dish or filling. In this class, you will be learning to make tortillas to go with the picadillo as well as Costa Rican style empanadas that will be stuffed with picadillo and fried to golden perfection. Class will begin promptly at 10:00 AM in the Centilia Cultural Center's kitchen. La Cocina Classes are typically 2.5 hours long. All cooking supplies and ingredients will be provided, but please bring your own apron. The Centilia Cultural Center is located within Plaza Roberto Maestas at 1660 South Roberto Maestas Festival Street, Seattle, WA 98144, next to the Light Rail station and south of El Centro de la Raza's main Historic Building.Proceeds from the La Cocina School at El Centro de la Raza Latin Cooking Classes go to fund El Centro de la Raza's Senior Wellness programs. As such, we are unable to process any refunds. In the event that you are unable to attend, we are happy to place you into a different class or you are welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else.
