Literacy and Liberation Behind Prison Walls - Left Bank Books Collective - Seattle

Join friends of Books to Prisoners on March 6 for a thought-provoking conversation with Garrett Felber about prison literacy and liberation.Garrett Felber is an associate professor of history at the University of Mississippi. He is the founder of the organization Liberation Literacy and the author of Those Who Know Don't Say, a history of the Nation of Islam and the Black Freedom Movement centered in the making of the modern carceral state. This new publication has been reviewed as "an impressive academic investigation" as well as "the definitive account of the Nation of Islam’s political activism".Books to Prisoners, a Seattle-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide books to educate and empower people in prisons, is honored to be presenting the opportunity to delve into the history and theory of this work toward collective liberation at Left Bank Books, a fixture of Seattle's radical community since 1973.
