Apollo’s Fire subscription series begins in October with “Echoes of Venice,” evoking the sumptuous music for groups of brass, singers, strings, and lutes, inspired by St Mark’s Cathedral in Venice. Around 1600, the stones of St. Mark’s Cathedral echoed as composers placed groups of instruments in different parts of the church. Apollo’s Fire brass players take the spotlight in this program of stunning music by Gabrieli, Monteverdi, and Praetorius. The program concept is the result of a collaboration between Artistic Director Jeannette Sorrell and visiting scholar Professor Dr. Marica Tacconi of Penn State University, who recently researched this repertoire in Venice.~Apollo's Fire: The Cleveland Baroque OrchestraJeannette Sorrell, conductor, harpsichord Featuring:Amanda Powell & Raha Mirzadegan, soprano soloistsJacob Perry Jr., tenor soloistApollo's SingersDark Horse Consort, early brass ensemble~Performance information:Friday, October 18 - Trinity Cathedral2230 Euclid AvenueCleveland, OH 441157:00 - Pre-concert talk with Dr. Marica Tacconi8:00 - Concert beginsJoin AF after the concert for AFTERGLOW, a FREE social event featuring Venetian treats, and more!for more info, including parking Downtown: https://apollosfire.org/event/echoes-of-venice/~Now a GRAMMY®-winning orchestra, Apollo’s Fire has performed sold-out concerts at Carnegie Hall, the BBC Proms, the Royal Theatre of Madrid, the Tanglewood Festival, the Metropolitan Museum of Art… and more!
